Kathleen Wareham is a full-time mediator and meeting facilitator. She mediates disputes, utilizing her twenty-five-year legal background in negligence; personal injury; civil rights; wrongful death; and probate, trust, guardianship and elder law matters. Before becoming a full-time neutral, Kathleen was a partner in a Seattle law firm. Her civil litigation practice at MacDonald Hoague & Bayless included a broad range of personal injury; civil rights; and probate, trust, and guardianship cases. Kathleen is a member of the Washington Arbitration and Mediation Service (WAMS) and is certified to serve as a Rule 39.1 mediator for federal cases. Kathleen’s law degree is from Columbia University (1986). She got her BA in philosophy, with honors, with a minor in economics, with honors, from the University of Washington (1983). Her mediation and facilitation training includes the Professional Mediation Skills Training Program at the University of Washington School of Law (2001), WAMS Advanced Mediation Training (2005), and Caregiver Mediation, Thurston County Dispute Resolution Center, program from University of Michigan School of Gerontology. She is a frequent speaker on a variety of dispute-resolution topics and is the author of the WSBA Deskbook Chapter "Washington Mediation Ethics" (2009). Kathleen has been recognized by her peers as a SuperLawyer, by Seattle Magazine as one of the best lawyers in Seattle, by her Columbia Law professors for excellence in oral advocacy (the Archie O. Dawson Award), and by Glamour Magazine as a Top Ten College Woman (1981). She is an active parent in The Northwest School community in Seattle, assisting with the parent education program, and is a Trustee of The Northwest School. Kathleen is married and is the proud mother of a college student and high school student. She maintains her ability to listen attentively and creatively, both at home and in her work, with regular yoga practice and walks with friends and her dog. In her spare time, Kathleen reads, draws, paints, and cooks for her family and friends. |
